Introduction / Board of Directors of the Network

Board of Directors of the Network

  •  The initial Board of Directors of the network will be formed for a three-year term, starting from the network’s establishment. During this period, the Board will oversee the creation of the network’s bylaws, the formation of the Board of Trustees, and the establishment of a mechanism for future appointments to the Board.
  • The Board of Directors, in its first term, will appoint the Board of Trustees, which will hold an annual meeting to participate in defining the network’s strategy, objectives, and operations.

Secretariat and Administrative Structure of the Network

  • An administrative body will be established under the network’s Secretariat, with its permanent headquarters located at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina.
  • A Secretary-General will be appointed for the network, with agreed-upon qualifications, term of service, and selection process, along with a financial compensation for their role.
  • A technical and administrative team will be appointed under the Secretariat to handle administrative tasks, coordinate between member centers, and send invitations for participation in the network’s events.
  • Preparation will be made for organizing the network’s annual conference, as well as unscheduled and emergency meetings, with the conference’s location and timing to be determined.
  • An annual award will be presented for the best research that meets the research criteria set by the network.

Funding of the Network

  • A nominal annual fee will be established for member centers to benefit from membership privileges, attend all network events, and vote on matters outlined in the internal regulations. The membership fee will apply for one year.
  • The network will seek sponsorship from a number of Arab private sector companies, with a one-time financial contribution deposited into a bank account to support network projects, in addition to the annual membership fee or event sponsorship.
  • A liaison officer will be appointed from the Bibliotheca Alexandrina and the Gulf Research Center to coordinate and consult, presenting the results to the Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina and the Chairman of the Gulf Research Center for completing the necessary procedures to establish and announce the network.
